I ran into an unexpectedly deep software construction-focused interview that felt very difficult and technically niche.

Deep knowledge assessment — I started with introductions, then faced detailed questions on software construction terminology, modularization, and how CI works at an internal level.
Unexpected scope vs title — Although the title was Software Engineer, the questioning aligned more with junior post-graduation software development curriculum expectations. Outcome: I didn’t move forward; the takeaway is to be ready for theory-level construction and CI internals even when the role sounds more general.
