I interviewed for a research role with a basic first step, but the in-person portion felt disorganized and poorly run over a short span.

Recruiter/HR phone screening — a basic introductory call about the company and what the position entailed, focused on my expectations and interest (including salary).
Onsite interview — an in-person day in D.C. where I met with nine people, starting with HR and then cycling through team members; the structure felt unorganized and some interviewers didn’t seem trained. Outcome: I didn’t move forward, and the lack of a smooth onsite interview process left me with a negative impression.
