My process moved quickly overall—around a month from start to finish—and it was made of two interview rounds.

The first part centered on projects I had listed on my resume, plus core ML concepts and guesstimates. That combination made the conversation feel like it was testing both practical experience and mental quickness.

In the second round, I spoke with a director. That conversation included a case study tied to predictive modeling, and then it turned into a discussion about American Express’s business model. The mix of a technical case and business context raised the difficulty level for me, because I had to connect modeling thinking to how the company actually operates.
