American Express Data Analyst interview experience

The focus was on machine learning fundamentals, and the questions were framed around case-style prompts meant to test how deeply I understood the core ML principles. Instead of only asking me to define terms, they asked things that required me to connect the concepts to reasoning and clarity.

It was a difficult interview for me in terms of content density—more about the fundamentals and interpretation than quick coding or simple applied questions. I didn’t end up getting selected, but the overall structure was coherent and centered on real understanding rather than surface-level familiarity.
