Affirm Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Aug 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My process included a staff-level technical round that combined system design and live coding in a single stretch.

It started with about an hour of system design, and then it shifted straight into live coding for another hour. I remember feeling like I understood what was being asked early on, but the pacing during the coding part got tight.

I ran out of time with about five minutes left, and it left me short of running through all the tests. The time pressure was honestly the biggest factor—when I fell behind the clock, it started to feel like the outcome was already slipping. Even though I thought the design portion went fine, the overall round didn’t land the way I needed, and I didn’t move forward.
