My interview with the sales lead was genuinely intimidating.

I expected a conversation that would focus on my sales experience and skills, but the tone quickly shifted toward the interviewer talking about himself and asking high-level questions that even a fellow colleague at the company didn’t seem to know. It felt like I was being tested in a way that didn’t match the impression I had that they’d be learning about me.

The intensity made it hard to settle into a normal rhythm. I didn’t get an offer, and the reflection I kept was that the conversation didn’t feel like it was designed to build rapport or assess my actual experience—it felt more like it
