After a recruiter screening, I was asked to do an email case study before I ever spoke with the hiring manager.

The assignment used limited context from the platform, and I remember feeling stuck because I wasn’t given the kind of copy guidance that would let me write a strong cold outreach message. That whole step felt like extra homework rather than an extension of the interview.

A day later I waited to hear more. Eventually I got a short email saying they weren’t moving forward. The experience left me pretty frustrated because it felt like time was taken up with a deliverable that didn’t fully match what they were evaluating, and then the process ended without any real opportunity to correct course.
