Reverse a String Manually

EasyPython

Problem

Even Financial Marketplace displays lender offer labels as strings. Write a function that returns a label with its characters in reverse order without using built-in reversal operations.

Do not use slicing with a negative step, reversed(), or list reverse(). You may use ''.join() only to convert a manually populated character list back into a string.

Formal Specification

  • Input: text, a Python string.
  • Output: A new string containing the same characters as text in reverse order.

Use a two-pointer approach: one pointer starts at the beginning of a character array and the other starts at the end. Swap their characters until the pointers meet.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(text) <= 100,000
  • text may contain letters, digits, spaces, and punctuation
  • Do not use slicing with a negative step, reversed(), or reverse()
  • The input string is not modified
