Window Functions in SQL

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Tell me about your experience writing basic SQL queries with window functions.

Use the tables below to return each active employee’s monthly sales rank within their region. Rows with a NULL in the ranking column are ignored.

Output

  1. One row per active employee sale month
  2. Columns: region, employee_name, sale_month, monthly_sales, sales_rank
  3. Include only active employees with non-NULL sale months
  4. Sort by region, then sales_rank, then employee_name
