SQL for Wait Time and Volume

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Write a SQL query to analyze hospital operations data by joining admissions, staffing, and department tables to calculate average wait time and patient volume by day and department. Include available staffing information for each daily department result, while retaining operational groups that have no matching staffing record.

Output

  1. One row per admission date and department.
  2. Columns: admission_date, department_name, average_wait_minutes, patient_volume, and staff_on_duty.
  3. Include only admissions associated with a known department, order by date ascending and department name ascending.
