Validating Data Quality Fast

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

What methods do you use to validate data quality in a fast-paced environment?

Use SQL to apply practical validation checks to issuer filing records for the reporting period ending 2026-09-30. Identify issuers with missing filings, duplicate filings, missing dates, or invalid statuses.

Output

  1. One row per issuer, including issuers with no matching filing.
  2. Columns: issuer_id, issuer_name, filing_count, null_filing_date_count, invalid_status_count, and quality_status.
  3. Set quality_status to PASS only when exactly one filing exists, no required date is null, and no status is invalid. Order by issuer_id ascending.
