Validate Sudoku Board

MediumPython

Problem

How would you implement a function to validate a Sudoku board?

Implement validate_sudoku(board), which receives a 9x9 list of lists. Each cell contains a digit from "1" to "9" or "." for empty. Return True if no digit appears more than once in any row, column, or 3x3 subgrid; otherwise return False. The board does not need to be solvable.

Constraints

  • board has exactly 9 rows
  • Each row has exactly 9 cells
  • Each cell is a digit from "1" to "9" or "."
  • The board may be partially filled
  • The board does not need to be solvable
