Given a list of processes with their start and end times, find the total amount of time during which at least one process was running.
Implement total_running_time(processes), where processes is a list of [start, end] pairs. Treat intervals as half-open, so a process runs from start up to but not including end; return the total covered duration as an integer. An empty list returns 0.
Example: [[1, 4], [2, 7], [6, 8]] returns 7, covering the continuous range [1, 8). [[1, 3], [7, 10]] returns 5.
