Top Users by Total Spend Per Region

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Write a SQL query to find the top 5 users by total spend in each region.

Treat users without transactions as having zero spend. Include each user at most once, and use user_id as the tie-breaker when total spending is equal.

Output

  1. One row per selected user, with region, user_id, user_name, and total_spend
  2. Include up to five users per region, ordered by region, descending total_spend, then ascending user_id
