Top-Performing Assets Query

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Write a query to extract the top-performing assets from this table.

Use valid, non-null closing values and consider only assets with at least two observations. Calculate each asset's total return from its earliest to latest valid observation, along with its average daily return. Return the top three assets.

Output

  1. One row per selected asset with columns asset_id, asset_name, total_return_pct, average_daily_return_pct, and observation_count.
  2. Include the three highest total returns, ordered descending, with asset_id ascending as the tie-breaker.
