Top Genres by Segment

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Write a query to find the top three most-watched content genres for the last month, broken down by active user segment. Use the previous calendar month and include only active users and positive watch durations.

Output

  1. One row per segment and genre, with active_segment, genre, total_watch_minutes, and genre_rank.
  2. Include up to three genres per segment, ordered by total watch minutes descending, then genre ascending for ties.
  3. Order the final results by active_segment, then genre_rank.
