Top Engaged Users by Region

Asana Spa wants to identify its most engaged users across regional teams. Write a PostgreSQL query that finds the top three users in each region based on activity during the fixed 30-day reporting window ending on 2026-08-30.

Requirements

1. Join users to their activity events and restrict events to the reporting window.
2. Count activity events for each user.
3. Rank users independently within each region, showing at most three users per region.
4. Resolve ties deterministically by sorting activity count descending and user ID ascending.

Output

1. One row per qualifying user, with columns region, user_id, user_name, activity_count, and regional_rank.
2. Include only users with at least one qualifying event and ranks 1 through 3 within their region.
3. Events with a NULL event_type still count as activity because activity is counted by event row.
4. Exclude events whose user ID does not match a row in users.
5. Sort by region, then regional_rank.
