Top Denied Claims Providers

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Write a SQL query to identify the top five medical providers with the highest volume of denied claims in a given month.

Use the provided claims and medical_providers tables. The selected month is March 2025 in the sample data; the query should make the month boundaries easy to change.

Output

  1. One row per qualifying medical provider with provider_id, provider_name, and denied_claim_count.
  2. Include only denied claims within the selected month.
  3. Return at most five rows, ordered by denied count descending, then provider ID ascending to break ties.
