Top Cities by Order Amount

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Given a table Orders(City, OrderDate, Amount), return the top 3 cities by total order amount along with their rank (output City, TotalAmount, Rank; only ranks 1-3).

Asked in the Round 1 live SQL stage. Wording restructured by OP with ChatGPT.

Output

  1. One row per city, with columns City, TotalAmount, and Rank.
  2. Include only cities whose rank is 1, 2, or 3. Cities tied on total amount must share the same rank.
  3. Sort by rank ascending, then city name ascending.
