Time-Based Key-Value Store

MediumPython

Problem

Implement a simplified time-based key-value store (set values with timestamps, get the value for a key at a given time).

Asked in the technical interview stage. Custom SpaceX question, described as a simpler version of LeetCode Time Based Key-Value Store; ~15 minutes.

Function Contract

  • set(key, value, timestamp): store value for key at timestamp
  • get(key, timestamp): return the value for key with the largest timestamp less than or equal to timestamp, or "" if none exists

Constraints

  • 1 <= number of operations <= 10^4
  • Keys and values are non-empty strings
  • 1 <= timestamp <= 10^9
  • For each key, timestamps in set operations are strictly increasing
  • get must return "" when no timestamp is less than or equal to the query time
