Tic-Tac-Toe Win Condition Logic

MediumPython

Problem

Given an array of 9 objects representing X, O, or Empty Tic-Tac-Toe cell states, write a method that determines who won, if it was a tie, or if the game is still in progress.

Use row-major order, where indices 0 through 2 are the first row and indices 6 through 8 are the third row. Return "X" or "O" for a winner, "Tie" when the board is full with no winner, and "In Progress" otherwise.

Function: def tic_tac_toe_result(board):

The input contains exactly nine values, each equal to "X", "O", or "Empty".

Constraints

  • board contains exactly 9 elements
  • Each element is exactly "X", "O", or "Empty"
  • The board uses row-major indexing
