Third Highest Salary in SQL | Dataford Interview Questions

NCR Voyix wants to review compensation levels across teams supporting its retail products. Write a PostgreSQL query to identify employees earning the third-highest distinct salary among active employees in departments belonging to NCR Voyix Retail Solutions.

Requirements

Join employees to departments using department_id.
Consider only active employees in the NCR Voyix Retail Solutions product area with non-null salaries.
Rank distinct salary values from highest to lowest and return every employee earning the third-highest salary.
Return the employee name, salary, and salary rank, ordered by employee name.

Use a window function such as DENSE_RANK, so employees with equal salaries share the same rank and do not create gaps in the distinct salary ranking.
