Problem

Write a function to count the number of vowels in a string.

Count the English vowels a, e, i, o, and u regardless of case. Do not count y or any non-letter character.

The function receives one string and returns an integer representing the number of vowels it contains.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(s) <= 100000
  • The input may contain uppercase and lowercase English letters, digits, spaces, and punctuation
  • Count only a, e, i, o, and u, regardless of case
