Write a function that reverses a string. Explain your thought process.

Implement reverse_string(s), which accepts a string and returns a new string containing the characters of s in reverse order. Preserve spaces, punctuation, letter case, and Unicode characters.

The input may be empty. Do not use a built-in string-reversal method such as slicing with a negative step.

Constraints

0 <= len(s) <= 1000
s may contain letters, digits, spaces, punctuation, and Unicode characters
Return a new string and preserve every input character exactly once
