String and Array Manipulation

MediumPython

Problem

Vericast campaign content may contain punctuation and spacing that must remain fixed while its alphanumeric characters are reversed. Implement a function that transforms the text and reverses a related integer array in place.

Requirements

  1. Reverse only ASCII letters and digits in text. Non-alphanumeric characters, including spaces and punctuation, must remain at their original indices.
  2. Reverse values in place and return the transformed text together with the same array object.
  3. Do not use Python's built-in reversed() or .reverse() methods.

Formal Specification

  • Input: text, a string containing ASCII letters, digits, spaces, and punctuation; values, a list of integers.
  • Output: A two-element list [transformed_text, values], where transformed_text contains the reversed alphanumeric characters and values is reversed in place.
  • The relative order of all alphanumeric characters is reversed, while every non-alphanumeric character stays fixed.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(text) <= 10^5
  • 0 <= len(values) <= 10^5
  • values contains integers within [-10^9, 10^9]
  • Only ASCII letters and digits are considered alphanumeric
