Your question is Standardize or Let Teams Diverge. Take a moment with it on the right.

Talk me through your thinking if you like. When you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes).

You need to log in / sign up to chat or submit.

Scenario

You are the Engineering Manager for a growing product organization where several teams are asking for more autonomy in how they plan, ship, and support work. At the same time, leadership wants fewer surprises in delivery, cleaner handoffs, and more consistent quality across teams. Some processes already exist, but adoption is uneven and a few teams believe the current standards slow them down. You need to decide which parts of the operating model should be standardized and which should remain team-specific.

Question

How do you decide when to standardize a process versus let teams move independently?
