SQL Proficiency and Application

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

How would you assess your current SQL skill level and why?

For this practical assessment, demonstrate your answer with a PostgreSQL query using the supplied policyholder and claim data. The result should show how you handle missing relationships, conditional claim inclusion, aggregation, and comparative ordering.

Output

  1. One row per policyholder, including policyholders without qualifying claims.
  2. Columns: policyholder_name, risk_segment, claim_count, total_claim_amount, and segment_rank.
  3. Include only claims dated in 2025 with status Open or Closed.
  4. Order by risk_segment, segment_rank, then policyholder_name.
