MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Tell me about how you would define success metrics for a product question, then write SQL to compute them.

Use the supplied user and product event data. For this exercise, define activation as a core action within seven days of signup and retention as any event during days 7 through 13 after signup.

Output

  1. One row per signup month, with signup_month, total_users, activated_users, activation_rate_pct, retained_users, and retention_rate_pct.
  2. Include signups from January and February 2025 only, and order by signup_month ascending.
