SQL Average Salary Query

EasySQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

U.S. Bancorp's workforce reporting team needs the average salary for currently active employees. Write a PostgreSQL query that calculates this single summary value from the employees table.

Requirements

  1. Include only employees whose employment_status is Active.
  2. Return the average of non-NULL salary values in a column named average_salary.

AVG automatically ignores NULL salary values, so employees without a recorded salary should not affect the calculation.

Schema
