SQL Analysis and Decisions

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Describe how you used a data set and what tools you used to analyze it and what decisions did you make as a result of it. Using the supplied products and orders tables, write a PostgreSQL query that produces a decision-oriented category analysis for completed orders from January through March 2025.

Output

  1. One row per product category, with category, total_revenue, order_count, revenue_share_pct, and decision.
  2. Include only categories represented by completed orders in the date range. Set decision to Prioritize when category revenue is at least the average category revenue; otherwise set it to Review.
  3. Order by total_revenue descending, breaking ties alphabetically by category.
