Spreadsheet Formulas and References

HardPython

Problem

Handle formulas with simple expressions and cell references.

Implement evaluate_formulas(cells), where cells maps cell names such as A1 to numbers or formulas beginning with =. Support numeric literals, cell references, parentheses, unary signs, and +, -, *, and / with standard precedence. Return a mapping containing the evaluated numeric value of every cell. Inputs are valid and acyclic; referenced cells exist.

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(cells) <= 1000
  • Cell names match [A-Z]+[1-9][0-9]*
  • Values are integers or formulas beginning with '='
  • Formulas contain numbers, valid cell references, parentheses, unary '+' or '-', and '+', '-', '*', '/'
  • All referenced cells exist
  • The dependency graph is acyclic
  • Division by zero does not occur
