SLAM Pose Optimization Updates

HardPython

Problem

Which optimization library do you typically use for SLAM, and how do you update the SE(3) pose during optimization iterations?

Implement the pose-update portion using standard Python only. Each increment is a 6D twist [wx, wy, wz, tx, ty, tz]; convert its rotational component with Rodrigues' formula and compose the resulting transform on the requested side.

Input and Output

Implement def update_se3_pose(pose, increments, side):. pose is a 4x4 homogeneous matrix, increments is a list of 6-element lists, and side is "left" or "right". Return the final 4x4 matrix.

Constraints

  • pose is a valid 4x4 homogeneous transformation matrix.
  • Each increment contains exactly six finite numbers in [wx, wy, wz, tx, ty, tz] order.
  • 0 <= len(increments) <= 100
  • The final row of every pose and increment is [0, 0, 0, 1].
  • side is either "left" or "right".
