Simulate Agricultural Data Processing

EasyPython

Problem

Write a function to simulate a simple agricultural data processing algorithm.

Implement aggregate_field_readings(records). Each record is a two-element list [field_id, reading]; return a dictionary mapping each field ID to the sum of its readings. Field IDs are strings, readings are non-negative integers, and an empty input should return an empty dictionary.

Constraints

  • 0 <= records.length <= 1000
  • Each record contains exactly two elements
  • field_id is a non-empty string
  • 0 <= reading <= 10^9

Function Signature

def aggregate_field_readings(records):
