Your question is Secure Third-Party API Integration. Take a moment with it on the right.

Talk me through your thinking if you like. When you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes).

You need to log in / sign up to chat or submit.

Problem

Describe your approach to integrating third-party APIs into a secure, enterprise-level application.

Explain the application-level architecture you would use to isolate provider-specific code, protect credentials and sensitive data, handle authentication and failures, and keep the integration testable and maintainable. Address how dependencies flow between layers, where state and caching belong, and how you would handle changes or outages in the external API.

  1. Define the layers or modules and their responsibilities.
  2. Explain dependency injection and the abstraction exposed to the rest of the application.
  3. Describe security controls, error handling, observability, and testing.
  4. Discuss at least one trade-off against an alternative design.
