Sampling Inside a Bounding Box

MediumPython

Problem

How to sample from within a bounding box using numpy?

Implement sample_bounding_box(bounds, n, seed) to return n deterministic random 2D points uniformly distributed inside the box. The input bounds is [xmin, ymin, xmax, ymax], and the output is a list of [x, y] points. Use an isolated seeded random generator so repeated calls with the same inputs produce the same result.

Constraints

  • 0 <= n <= 10^5
  • bounds contains exactly four numbers in the order [xmin, ymin, xmax, ymax]
  • xmin <= xmax and ymin <= ymax
  • seed is an integer
