Role-Based Access Validation

MediumPython

Problem

Write a function to validate user access based on role and permissions at The University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The function receives a role name, role definitions with inherited roles and direct permissions, and required permissions. Return True only when every required permission is available through the role hierarchy; return False for an unknown role or unknown inherited role.

Signature: def validate_user_access(role, roles, required_permissions):

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(roles) <= 10^4
  • Each role definition has inherits and permissions arrays
  • Role names and permission names are non-empty strings
  • The inheritance graph is intended to be acyclic
  • Return False if the requested role or any inherited role is undefined
  • The required permissions list may be empty
