Reading Charts Under Pressure

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Explain what the graph or chart is showing and how you would use it to answer a risk-related question.

You are given chart observations captured from a Barclays risk dashboard. Write a SQL query that returns the latest observed value for each chart series, so the interviewer can see how you would summarize the chart before answering a risk question.

Output

  1. One row per chart series
  2. Columns: series_name, observation_date, metric_value
  3. Return only the most recent observation for each series
  4. Ignore rows where observation_date is NULL
  5. Sort by series_name ascending
