Python and Linux Commands

HardPython

Problem

Tell me about your experience using Python and Linux commands for embedded development and debugging.

As a hands-on exercise, implement find_fault_bursts to analyze ordered dmesg-style records. Each line has the form [timestamp] component code; return sorted component-code pairs with at least threshold records whose timestamps span no more than window seconds.

Input: lines is a list of valid strings, window and threshold are numbers. Output: a list of [component, code] pairs.

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(lines) <= 10^4
  • Each line has the exact format [timestamp] component code
  • Lines are ordered by nondecreasing timestamp
  • 0 <= timestamp <= 10^9
  • 0 <= window <= 10^9
  • 2 <= threshold <= len(lines)
  • Component and code contain no whitespace
