Prompt Templating With JSON Validation

HardPython

Problem

Implement a basic prompt templating utility that fills placeholders and validates structured JSON output. Use {{name}} placeholders, a variables dictionary, a JSON response string, and a recursive schema supporting object, array, string, number, integer, boolean, and null. Implement render_and_validate(template, variables, response, schema) and return [rendered_prompt, parsed_json], or [None, None] for missing placeholders, invalid JSON, or schema violations.

Constraints

  • The template and response are strings.
  • variables is a dictionary whose values are convertible to strings.
  • Placeholder names contain letters, digits, and underscores, and cannot start with a digit.
  • The schema uses only object, array, string, number, integer, boolean, and null types.
  • Object schemas may contain required and properties fields; array schemas may contain items.
  • Schema nesting depth is at most 100.
