Your question is Process a Log with Pandas. Take a moment with it on the right.

Talk me through your thinking if you like. When you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes).

You need to log in / sign up to chat or submit.

Problem

Given a log file, process it with Pandas and calculate specified parameters.

Asked in the Technical Round 1 stage. This was the opening question of Technical Round 1.

Requirements

  1. Load the log file into a Pandas DataFrame and inspect its schema, nulls, duplicate rows, and data types.
  2. Normalize timestamps and categorical fields before calculating the requested parameters.
  3. Implement the specified calculations using clear, reproducible Pandas operations.
  4. Report the results in a concise table and state any assumptions or data-quality exclusions.
  5. Explain how you would verify the calculations on a larger file without loading the entire dataset into memory.

Data Available

A log file containing event records. The exact columns, parameter definitions, and expected output are provided with the interview exercise.
