Pizza Inventory Management

MediumPython

Problem

Given pizza orders with toppings, do some inventory management of ingredients.

Implement manage_inventory(orders, inventory). Each order is a list of topping names, and preparing one topping consumes one ingredient unit. Return an object containing the remaining original inventory and each topping's shortage, treating absent inventory as zero.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(orders) <= 500
  • 0 <= total number of topping entries <= 2 * 10^3
  • Each order is a list of strings
  • Inventory quantities are non-negative integers
  • Topping names are non-empty strings
  • Each topping occurrence consumes exactly one unit
