Pattern Detection in Sensor Streams

MediumPython

Problem

Write a function to detect a specific pattern in a stream of sensor data at Bee Robotics.

Given a list of sensor readings and a target pattern, return True when the pattern appears as a contiguous subsequence of the stream, otherwise return False. Use the function signature detect_pattern(stream, pattern). An empty pattern is considered present in every stream.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(stream) <= 10^4
  • 0 <= len(pattern) <= 10^3
  • Each reading is an integer between -10^9 and 10^9
  • The pattern must occur contiguously
  • An empty pattern is considered present
