How would you compare strings to check whether a word is a palindrome?
Implement is_palindrome(word) using a direct character comparison. Treat the input as case-sensitive and compare only its existing characters, without removing spaces or punctuation. Return True if the word reads the same forward and backward, otherwise return False.
Examples: "level" returns True; "python" returns False.
Input/output: word is a non-empty string, and the function returns a Boolean.
