OAuth Flows and Differences

MediumPython

Problem

Describe how OAuth 2.0 flows work. What is the difference between the implicit flow and the authorization code flow?

Implement the classification portion of this question. Given an ordered list of OAuth events, return "implicit", "authorization_code", or "invalid".

An implicit flow contains authorize_request, followed directly by access_token_response. An authorization code flow contains authorize_request, authorization_code_response, token_request, and access_token_response, in that order. Extra events are invalid.

Input and Output

events is a list of strings. Return one classification string.

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(events) <= 10
  • Each event is a lowercase string
  • Valid event names are authorize_request, authorization_code_response, token_request, and access_token_response
  • The complete event sequence must match exactly one supported flow
