Network Security in Cloud

HardPython

Problem

How do you implement network security in cloud environments?

Implement an ordered IPv4 firewall evaluator that applies the first matching rule to each packet and denies packets with no match. Each rule contains a CIDR network, protocol, optional port, and action; "*" and null represent wildcards. Define evaluate_firewall(rules, packets) where rules and packets are lists of dictionaries, and return one action string per packet.

Constraints

  • 1 <= rules.length <= 10^4
  • 1 <= packets.length <= 10^4
  • Each IPv4 address contains four decimal octets in the range 0 through 255
  • Each CIDR prefix is an integer from 0 through 32
  • Each rule protocol is a lowercase protocol name or '*', and each packet protocol is a lowercase protocol name
  • Each port is an integer from 0 through 65535, or null in a rule
  • Each action is either 'allow' or 'deny'
  • Rules use first-match semantics and unmatched packets must be denied
