Multiples of 3 or 5 Sum

MediumPython

Problem

Find the sum of all the multiples of 3 or 5 below 1,000,000.

Implement def sum_multiples(limit):, which accepts a non-negative integer and returns an integer containing the sum of every positive number strictly less than limit that is divisible by 3 or 5. Count numbers divisible by both factors only once. For example, sum_multiples(10) returns 23, and sum_multiples(16) returns 60; use an approach efficient for large limits.

Constraints

  • 0 <= limit <= 10^9
  • Only positive integers strictly less than limit are considered
  • Each number divisible by both 3 and 5 is counted once
