Monitor and Alert on Thresholds

MediumPython

Problem

Write a script to monitor and alert on specific system resource thresholds.

Process chronologically ordered resource samples and generate one alert when a metric reaches or exceeds its threshold after being below it. A metric must fall below its threshold before another alert can be generated. Implement generate_alerts(samples, thresholds), returning alert dictionaries with timestamp, metric, and value.

Constraints

  • 1 <= samples.length <= 10000
  • 1 <= thresholds.length <= 1000
  • Each sample contains timestamp, metric, and numeric value fields
  • Samples are ordered by nondecreasing timestamp
  • A metric name is a non-empty string
  • A threshold exists only for metrics that should be monitored
  • A value equal to the threshold counts as a breach
