Merge and Deduplicate JSON Payloads

HardPython

Problem

Write a program to merge and deduplicate highly unstructured JSON data payloads arriving from multiple conflicting data sources for Peregrine Technologies.

Implement merge_payloads(payloads). Each payload is a JSON object, and payloads are ordered from lowest to highest priority. Recursively merge objects, with later scalar values replacing earlier values. Concatenate arrays while removing duplicate JSON values, preserving first appearance. Return one merged JSON object.

Input: a nonempty list of JSON objects. Output: one JSON object.

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(payloads) <= 10^4
  • Each payload is a valid JSON object
  • JSON values contain only objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null
  • Later payloads have higher priority for scalar conflicts
  • Duplicate array values are equal by JSON structure and value
