Max Sum Subarray of Length

EasyPython

Problem

Dell OpenManage Enterprise processes sequences of server telemetry readings. Given an integer array readings and a desired window length k, return the maximum sum of any contiguous subarray containing exactly k readings.

Use a sliding-window approach rather than recomputing every window from scratch.

Formal Specification

Implement max_window_sum(readings, k).

  • Input: readings, a list of integers, and k, a positive integer.
  • Output: An integer representing the largest sum among all contiguous subarrays of length k.
  • Every valid window must contain exactly k consecutive elements. The array may contain negative values.

Constraints

  • 1 <= k <= len(readings)
  • 1 <= len(readings) <= 10^5
  • -10^6 <= readings[i] <= 10^6
  • The result may be negative
