Max Array Without Built-ins

EasyPython

Problem

If you have to find the maximum value from an array without using built-in functions, how can you do it?

Implement a function that scans a non-empty array of integers and returns its largest value. Do not use max(), sorting, or other built-in operations that directly determine the maximum.

Input and Output

The function receives nums, a non-empty list of integers, and returns one integer representing the largest element.

Constraints

  • 1 <= nums.length <= 100000
  • -10^9 <= nums[i] <= 10^9
  • Do not use max(), sorting, or another built-in operation that directly finds the maximum

Function Signature

def maximum_value(nums):
